Being able to rotate or mirror the source selection for the patch-tool would be very useful when the image has lots of symmetric texture (like in a carpet). I was shooting a very untidy apartment and we had to move the trash back and forth to keep them out of the cameras field of view. Later on Photoshop I noticed on one image, that there was a piece of trash in the carpet that I had missed during the shoot. The carpet had an identical spot, but it had to be rotated 180-degrees. It would be handy if patch-tool could do this with a push of a button.

I agree, add the same settings as we have for the clone stamp, but to the patch tool.

You can transform/mirror the the Content Aware Move tool in Photoshop CC 2015 or later: Content-Aware Move Let me know if that solves your needs.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Patch tool supporting rotation like in Afinity Photo.

Surprised to see better  Patch tool in Affinity Photo where it allows to patch over transparent pixels and support rotation and scale on the fly.     Please Adobe do the same too.

or even better make "dynamic smart objects"   fusing into underlying image automatically and still be editable and non-distructive.
