Photoshop could use a interactive Mirror Paint and Seamless edge/border painting function. Painter has had this feature for about 10 years now.

Symmetry Painting with the Brush tool
A feature I loved back in the days in Deluxe Paint for the Amiga. It is available in Autodesk Sketchbook Pro and would be a great addition to Photoshop.

cheers

I have a short list of feature requests. I'm not sure If Photoshop CS5 can do any of this yet, but maybe it could do similar tasks.

1. I would like a setting for Photoshop to make any brush, not only paint brushes, to mirror the painting to the opposite side for drawing symmetrical things like humans. For example, there could be options for mirroring any type of brush in the X axis, the Y axis, both X and Y, and a free rotation angle the user would set in a value. The mirror brush tool, in my opinion would be great for symmetrical drawings and abstract drawings too.

2. Another feature I would like is an automatic normal map maker for textures, like those sometimes used in 3d games. This automatic normal map tool could be implemented into the 3d menu of Photoshop Extended versions. I would like it if this tool could be used in Photoshop's 3d tools, and on 2d images too.

Thanks for your time.

Sorry, I'm new to this place. I didn't know I was limited to one idea per topic. All the other forums I go to usually let users request more than one thing in one topic. Thanks for the heads up, and the previous posts too.

Set a symmetry tool for photoshop real-time axial or radial symmetry
something like:
- clic symmetry tool to set parameters: activated? , axial or radial?, radial count number? , all layers or one layer ?
- press Alt + clic and drag to draw axis or just clic to draw center of radial symmetry on a layer or for all layers
- for radial symmetry: Set Radial Count ( number of times you want to mirror your stroke around radial center)
- Activate or not Symmetry axial or radial checkbox
- draw in realtime symetry :)

example -> zbrush symmetry tool(radial or not) tool :) so powerful

Quoted for agreement. The offset filter is well past it's sell by date.

How do the dev's think about adding this great functionality:

a dragable guideline, which copies every stroke you do onto the other side, enabling the famous mirror-painting.

To further enhance this you could also use Kaleidoscope painting, where you can set how many segments should be mirrored.

Corel's Painter 12 features this, and it's amazing.

this video explains it pretty well:

Photoshop definitely needs this!

Hey guys, looks like we missed out on getting this feature. Its not in CS6.

only populist features like VIDEO EDITING!? Don't you already have 2 other programs to do that?

Why not split the effects in Photoshop off into a separate app, it can be like what after effects is to Premiere pro, a missing limb.

so, any awnser from the dev's?

is there any hope or possibility that this time we will see this added?

please don't make us have to rely on other programs capable of this until CS7 or later.

There's always a possibility, but for legal reasons we can't say much about unannounced versions of software.

More and more people use photoshop for digital painting, and these people need the real-time mirroring like in Alchemy. It is very useful and would make Alchemy superfluous.

Please add a mirror brush (or options for making such a tool). This would be a brush which can be set on an axis point to draw in symmetry from the number of points specified. (This functionality is available in such products as Inkscape and Krita, but not Photoshop.)

mirror painting is useful for character front side design. kaleidoscope painting is useful for pattern design.

(behind "Add a Glyphs panel")

Put the lightroom content in another forum.

I agree with this suggestion. Photoshop just has parts of it that need to catch up big time. Good suggestion OP.

Not likely they will ever be implemented, Instead we'll get Dazzleing features that impress photohipsters with 1 click button magic tricks.

Well, some of the features you might have meant may hardly be relevant to professionals but still are impressive achievements programming-wise.
One CS6 feature that annoys me is »Color Theme« – it seems unnecessary to me and has ruined a formerly good Keyboard Shortcut.

It's such a basic and important thing. Seamless backgrounds are back in style and can be found almost everywhere on the web again. I still have to do them manually or use 3rd party software. Come on, Adobe. It ́s such a simple thing to do and I don't really need such a fancy shmancy stuff like the "oil painting" filter which does a really bad job of creating an "oil" painting anyway. Are you trying to appeal to rich hobbyists who want to turn photos of their dogs into "oil" paintings? Leave that to the plugin makers and developers of playful photo editing software with names like "Magix". Web developers would surely love a simple seamless tile creation functionality. If you don't give it PS, at least implement it inside Fireworks. It's incredible that a software like Fireworks doesn't support it.

As a painter, I love Corel Painters new symmetry tool. Even ZBrush offers it inside its painting feature, so why doesn't the grandmother of all image editing software do as well? It would be super useful for things like sketching and it would also be a great addition to the liquify filter when trying to come up with concepts for creatures etc.

How about a "Symmetry Tool"? The user specifies boundaries, horizontal line and center line, then Photoshop aligns all paired shapes (using edges?) therein to perfect symmetry.

For instance, I have one eye visibly lower than the other. The Symmetry Tool would handle the work of aligning the eyes in perfect symmetry.

This is a simple idea, but one that Photoshop still doesn't have.

A Mirror Brush.

The function:

Select Brush
Command Click, to draw a line.
Now everything you paint on one side of the line is mirrored on the other.

I use Photoshop alot as painting tool for various purposes,
but what i'm looking for is a mirror-tool:
not simply one that mirrors in the middle of the screen (you can find plugins for that)
but what I'm dying for is a something like the lets say the line tool-

you draw an straight vector line across the canvas and everything gets mirrored along that axis- preferably realtime
(-in fact i think i can't be the only one with such an idea)

Seamless texture editor for web designers.

I have an idea for a seamless texture editor. So, you import the image and it places in the centre of a edgeless 3x3 grid with the same image. If you make a change in one of them, all of them change, until the texture appears seamless, then you can save the original with all the changes. I would love this feature, would be killer. Please implement this Adobe. I have attached a (bad) example
