Photoshop Elements: Minimized photos in blocking Project Bin (PSE 9/XP)

I'm using PSE 9 in Windows XP. When I open a large number of photos in the full edit mode, and then minimize them, they show up not only in the project bin, but as little title bars at the bottom of the screen- kind of like when you have several programs open on your computer. Except these ones keep stacking up and block the project bin and the layers palette. It's incredibly annoying! I just spent an hour on the phone with Adobe support, and they finally determined that this is the way PSE works in XP. It doesn't happen in Windows 7. It's extremely annoying and it would be great if you could fix this in an update. Thanks.

Is there a reason your minimizing the windows? Why not use tabbed view and use the Project Bin to navigate the open documents?

you can open documents and editing them in non-floating mode.
please do that
go to preferences -> uncheck allow floating mode.

or use Tabed or tiles view as Jeffrey Tranberry said.
