I'd like to migrate from Lightroom Classic to Lightroom CC. During catalog migration I get an error and migration stops at about 10%. In English, it says it's an unexpected situation and I should contact the support.

The log tells me almost no errors except one element having conflicting meta data.

In Lightroom Classic I already tried everything that was possible for me to sort out possible problems like missing images, paths, conflicting meta data. However, the error remains and I don't know how to identify the root cause for this migration problem.

I also started Lightroom CC with -tracebacks option but found no useful information, see below.

What else could I do to find the root cause stopping migration?

Best regards

Hello Martin,

Sorry for the trouble you had while migrating your library.
Please help us understand what went wrong with the migration by sharing following details:
  1. Complete migration logs  (Lightroom Library.lrlibrary ->migration->lrcat)
  2. The .lrcat file (catalog db) for Lightroom Classic folder you are looking forward to migrate.
Appreciate your help,
Priya (priyaver@adobe.com)

Hi Martin,

This is what I can suggest for the migration problem:
1Apply this filter to your Lightroom classic to know the assets with metadata conflicts
In the Library panel.
Library Filter ->Metadata Status -> Not UptoDate
Please see which images do have metadata conflicts.

2. Try migration without these images.
I'll connect with you over call if we still see any issues.

Hello Martin,
Please filter the images with metadata conflicts in Lightroom CC and share a snapshot with me.

You can filter as per the given screenshot. These images that appear after this filter seem to be the source of trouble in your Library.

Please share a snapshot of images after applying this filter
Based on this info,  I can help you further in re-migrating your catalog so that we don't run into the same issue.

Thanks,
Priya

Hello Priya,

thank you for your assistance! Here's what I've done:

1) Filtered for all assets having meta data conflict. I found about 150 assets, all of them being video files of different formats (MOV, AVI,...)

2) No option to resolve such conflicts, options to read/save meta data to file were greyed out (maybe because of the video format). So I marked all asset, exported them to a different catalog and deleted them from the main catalog.

3) As a result, now there's no asset left in the main catalog with meta data conflicts (see screenshot).

4) Tried to migrate again. In Lightroom CC I still get the same error, saying that there is one element with meta data conflict (see below). So apparently the video files are not causing the problem.

5) :-(

Any ideas?

Regards
Martin
