Photoshop: middle button on wacom pen kills paint.

While painting with my wacom tablet if I hit one of the thumb buttons it kills photoshop. I get the spinning circles of death and have to force quit.

I've updated everything. I'm on a mac with CC. but his has been an issue for years. I've reproduced this issue faithfully on several machines on different versions ever since CS4, I believe. I've disabled the middle button.

I can't believe I'm the only one experiencing this bug. I haven't found anyone else who's bumped into this.

It's really holding me back.

What do you have that button set to do?
What OS version are you using?

And no, I haven't heard that problem from other users.

Hi, thanks for answering. I have osx 10.8.2

I have the pen mapped like this

normally I have the disabled button mapped to middle click for things like maya and
c4d but I keep having this issue so I tried disabling the button when in PS and that seemed to help at first and it is better but it it still happens often enough to be a problem.

I try to save often and the file recovery feature has been a big help in recovering some of my work but if I keep losing twenty minutes of work due to this problem (that's if I'm diligent about remembering to save) it really adds up.

I just noticed you can up the recovery auto save to every five minutes so I'll use that and I should be able to manage.

I'm really surprised I'm the first to experience this problem... it actually took me a while to figure out it was from accidentally bumping the pen button. I don't think my setup is that strange really... mostly everything i default except from remapping the pen buttons to something more intuitive... imo. (double-click button, really?)

Thanks for registering an interest. Hope you're having a stellar day.

You should be on MacOS 10.8.5, you've missed several important OS fixes.
And make sure you have all the Photoshop CC updates installed as well.

And we'll have to see why a middle click from the wacom code might cause problems...
