Metadata apply on Import doesn't apply to first image

On Importing photos from my camera's SD card, I have a Metadata Preset configured which blanks out the Caption field. Otherwise my photos have the caption "OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA".

This works fine. Except on the first photo.

In the screenshot attached, all the photos have had the metadata preset applied correctly, except the first.

I'm not 100% sure that it's *only* the first photo that gets skipped every time, I think I've done larger imports in the past and it has skipped more than the first.

My very simple Metadata Preset is below:

Just wondering whether the camera menu could not solve this idiocy.

You'd think so, but no, for some daft reason you can't turn it off in-camera.

Forums generally suggest setting up a Lightroom preset to wipe the Caption as I've done.

Aidan,
I was trying to reproduce the same - but could not. Just curious - does this happen with every import that you do from SD card? How many photos are there on the SD card?

Thanks,
Sunil

Hi Sunil,

Thanks for replying. This happens for every import I do from the SD card.

Attached is a screenshot of an import today with 30 photos. In this import, half the photos had the wrong metadata - you can see in the screenshot, I've highlighted them to make it more obvious.

14 photos have the "Caption" filled in with "OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA" still despite the Preset being supposed to wipe that field.

Regards,
Aidan
