Metadata (and so whole) PSD is updated when you export the file from your Library in Lightroom, why??

Hi,

Exporting a PSD file to harddisk from Lightroom, as original, will update the original PSD file. The same happens with files in a collection exported as a new catalogue. I didn't understand why, so I looked at XMP-files of original RAW-files and they were changed too.  I didn't change those files in Lightroom.
Is this a real feature or is it a bug? With large PSD-files it is annoying when you use an automated back-up procedure. Tens of Gigabytes will be backed up needlessly.

I'm not able to reproduce the problem, either with exporting as original or exporting a collection as a catalog, either with PSDs or raws and .xmp sidecars.  Adobe most likely won't pay much attention unless there's a recipe for replicating the problem.

Please do Help > System Info and report the exact version of LR and the version of Windows or Mac.

Also, can you post a screenshot of the Export settings you used to export the PSD?

Thanks John, I did forget to mention it in my post.
It is iMac OSX 10.11.5   Lightroom 2015.6
"Automatic write changes into XMP" is checked.

Export settings are:

But..., I'm not able to reproduce the problem today. I didn't change anything, weird. But I'm  sure it did happen.  Some screenshots to 'prove' it:

Lightroom History:

"Export - Hard Drive (22/06/16 12:39:46)" was to reproduce it today. It occurred with the export on 21/06/16 17:14 (it's in Dutch, 'Vaste schijf' = 'Hard Drive')

Screenshot of the exported file:

As you can see I didn't change the file in Photoshop recently:

There have been two other recent reports of somewhat similar issues, perhaps related, perhaps not:

1. A very experienced LR user reported that LR 6.5.1 had marked a number of photos as "edited" when they in fact had not been: https://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family/topics/smart-collection-edit-date-is-today-does-not-... I don't think that user didn't have Automatically Write Changes enabled, so he didn't notice changes to the file modified times of the masters in the catalog, but he had a smart collected testing Edit Date that showed that LR thought (incorrectly) the files had been edited.   If he had Automatically Write Changes enabled, it's possible that LR would have modified the masters accordingly.   We never figured out what field LR may have changed, though.

2. Another user of LR 6.5.1 or 6.6 reported the file modification dates of masters being changed, and it appears that he didn't make changes to the files either: https://forums.adobe.com/message/8807275#8807275. So far, we haven't been able to track down further information.

Thanks John.
I compared the old and the new XMP-file that has been changed and discovered I entered a Keyword for all files before exporting to a new catalogue. So that explained the new XMP-files. I looked in it before posting this issue but I think I overlooked it.
But still I don't understand the case listed above. Nothing has been changed, just exporting the file. No keywords entered, nothing else. Date of Metadata is also: 21/06/16 17:14
I will track this issue and when it occurs again I will try to trace it.

Thanks again,

Murk
