Camera Raw/Lightroom: Merge to Panorama issue: sharpness detection

Hello,
I do landscape images often shooting vertical panoramas. Unfortunately, even pro lenses often have inconsistent sharpness across the image frame (OIS off on tripod, even at smaller than f6.3). One thing is usually for certain, the image is sharpest in the center. Decentering might make one side of the image significantly softer than the center or the other side.

For this reason, I always significantly overlap tiles so that there is always the 'sharpest portion' of the image available to create the panorama.
Unfortunately, it seems that ACR cant recognise the sharpest section of the image and often uses the very edge of the image for stitching.

This forces a clumsy and destructive workflow to get a universally sharp panorama; Cropping the raws to their sharpest sections, applying synced exposure/white balance adjustments, merging to panorama in PS, save as 16bit tiff (much larger and less versatile than raw).

Please make Merge to Panorama recognise and use the center portion or sharpest portions of images to rectify this issue.
Regards
