Photoshop: Memory leak while leaving Photoshop open for 36 hours under macOS Sierra 10.12

I left my mac alone for about 36 hours, and the file I'd been working on had ballooned in memory consumption. My application memory was maxed out (thankfully I'd limited it) and macOS (I feel like I'm in 98 saying macOS) had locked my applications and forced me to force quit to retrieve memory.

I don't recall the actual numbers, but it had compressed an insane amount of memory (it may have been 70Gig). Needless to say, working on the same file the day before had been fine, and no processes were touching photoshop.
