Photoshop: math modifiers in color picker

I've had to create a lot of color charts. It would be great if I could add a math modifier to a field in the color picker that would be recorded with an action. For example, if I wanted to add five points of blue to a solid color layer I could type +5 in the blue value. Then I could play that action to continually add five points of blue.

This feature would be valuable in other dialogues as well like canvas size and image size.

That would be swell.

Is this a question or a feature request? You should be able to achieve what you want using the scripting API. Are you familiar with our scripting engine?

This is a feature request. I'm new to the forum, and still finding my way around. I'm not familiar with the scripting API. Do tell...

Essentially you can use JavaScript to manipulate the Photoshop DOM. Documentation here:

Ah Yes. I've downloaded the scripting guide more than once, but alas have little time to add javascript to my repertoire, but the need grows more imperative. Many thanks for your reply, I do hope this could be integrated into Photoshop at some point. Similar features are available in InDesign already, and in the various 3D apps that I use. Really like the new forum.

I do not understand your request, but if you describe the issue and ask for help at
http://ps-scripts.com/
and/or
http://forums.adobe.com/community/pho...
somebody may be able to provide a Scrip for the task.

I would like to do something like this.

And when recording the action it would record that I added five blue, and not the result of adding five blue.

Ah, now I get it ... I’m afraid Scripts won’t be much help there.

Are you sure? It wouldn't work exactly in this way, but why couldn't an action step be a script that takes the current solid color and add 5 to the blue value?

As usual you are being polite by saying »Are you sure?« because I still had missed the gist of the original post.

I meant arithmetic input in the Color Picker fields seems out of range, but as for the task the original poster wants to use it (color chart creation) that should be quite easily scripted with a dialog for the added percentage or work perfectly fine the way you proposed.

I figured out a way to do this without scripting. I created a file that lets you edit an input color, and then creates all the variations. You can download it here. Let me know what you think! There is a description of how to use it in the document info.
