I am using photoshop cs6 and when I use the marquee tool or quick selection tool it doesn't show the outline of the selection. Usually there would be an outine but the screen is just blank after using one of these tools. Is there anyway I can fix this?

Which OS version?

And have you tried disabling GPU usage in Photoshop's preferences, then relaunching?

Odds are pretty good that this is a problem with your video card driver, and a driver update will fix it.

There is problem in CS6 when quick selection tools shows selection, but once mouse button is released selection does not stay on the screen, it disappears.
IT seams to only work when I command - a for select all. Then I am able to use it inside a selection. Looks like this is a new cs6 workflow. before I did not need to have layer selected with command - a to apply any kind of fill or quick select took inside of that layer.

had the same problem, osx yosemite 10.10.5 macbook pro using a Radeon R9, disabling "Use Graphics Processor" fixed the problem, then reactivated it and all is well.
