Photoshop Elements: Using mapped drives with Organizer

Please tell me who to contact via email or mail. I had Photoshop Elements 4 and used it on two computers. One computer stored the pictures and catalog (drive F) . This was used to show the pictures on my TV. A second computer was used to access the pictures for editing. I simply mapped on the second computer using the same drive letter. No issues. Now upgraded to Elements 10. converted files and nothing but problems. My wife called customer support twice and was told no support for networking. Found on web your new version does not support networking. This is unacceptable. I have over 18k of pictures. Now some pictures show "online" and others "offline." Is my only choice to give up on Elements and use Window Explorer to organize files? Of course loose all the other abilities such as placing names/notes on pictures. Just very frustrated and your India? help was no help. I want to let someone in the US acknowledge this issue and hopefully it will be corrected in your next version. But most important, I have pictures on my camera that need to be downloaded and don’t know what to do with them.

Hi Douglas,

I want to add a correction to your statements. You said that " Found on web your new version does not support networking". PSE 10 does support import from mapped network drive.
For this: Map your drive and Click on 'File->Get photos and videos->From files and folders'. In the coming dialog box you can find your mapped drive shown in left side under 'Computer'.

Regarding downlaoding from camera. What is the proble you are facing?
Just attach your camera and click on 'File->Get photos and videos->From camera or card reader'. APD (Adobe photodownloader) will pop up. Update the location/create sub folder/rename files and other attributes. APD will first download your photos to mentioned location and thjen ask you whether you want to import or not. Procede as per choice.

Let me know if you have any queries.

Thanks.

I want to send you screen shots. Message below. Please let me know how to respond directly to your email.

Issue is if some photos are saved from computer 1 on a USB drive (F), connected to this computer and others are saved to computer 1 from computer 2, there is a mismatch in drive paths. Please see attached document for screen snapshots from computer 2. One computer is looking for “F” and the other for a network path.

Also, one other problem trying to get all my photos to simply show drive “F” by reconnecting files. Please see graphics below. The right side of the screen under “Locate the Missing File”, below the “Browse” button there is a select box. Default comes up as “DougOffice” and the “F” drive, letter does not show. Even if it did, the path would still show as \\DougOffice instead of simply “F” which is required if I am to hook up the drive to the other computer.

I have to use the drop down menu and go to “Desktop”, then “My Computer” and then select “F”. (see second graphic). This is an extremely slow process and with so many folders/files, I am hoping you can tell me how to make the default “My Computer”. .

Where are these graphics? You can post images by clicking the "Add Image" button in the lower right of a new post box (just above the Reply button).

Oh, well, you could also save the files as JPEGs in Photoshop Elements Editor. Once you have taken the screenshots, you can go to File>New>Image from Clipboard. Additionally, you can go to File>New after you have taken your screenshot. The size Preset will be set to "Clipboard" if you've taken a screenshot. Then you can paste there and save as an image file. Rather than going to Word.

Or you can email the Word doc to me at bnemecek [AT] adobe [DOT] com.
