Many leftovers after PS 2020 installation

Hi,

After the installation of PS 2020 you should have a look at C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\CCX Welcome\stock\assets. A lot of temporary files (about 1 GB) are left over there. Also, you'll find in that folder a lot of useless and most often duplicated JPEG files.

Not clean, as usual.

Ditto for C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\CCX Welcome\ccd\assets.

Actually, these leftovers could be related to the successive installations of the Creative Cloud Desktop app (both old and new design), not to the installation of PS.

Today I found again tons of temporary files left over in C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\CCX Welcome\stock\assets. At least, let me specify another partition for storing these files.

Hello, I know there are several tutorials in the new version, could those images be part of it? but 1 GB seems quite a lot...

I was curious so I checked my CCX Welcome folder and the total amount adds up to only 83.3 MB. Admittedly I haven't installed the new PS 2020 yet.

My CCX Welcome folder on Windows 10 with PS 21.0.1 installed is 191 MB and a total of 1,139 files.

What bothers me is not the legitimate files stored under CCX Welcome. It's the gigabytes of temporary (.tmp) files than can accumulate there. My system disk is a SSD and I don't want apps to store so many useless files there.

I just did a search on the entire CCX Welcome folder and no .tmp files were found. What specific type of files are you seeing? I haven't viewed any of the tutorials. Perhaps that's what's creating the temp files?

Neither did I. I'm seeing jpeg and json files there which is probably OK. But the .tmp files are apparently created when updating Creative Cloud and/or Photoshop. They should be removed afterwards.

Can I delete the C:\Users\<myUser>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\CCX Welcome\stock\assets content? Thanks.

Hi,

You can for sure delete all the .tmp (temporary) files. They should not be there. The JPEG files are probably here for tutorials. If you delete them, they will come back anyway. They don't use that much disk space.
