Photoshop: Image turns white, Adjustments don't apply correctly

I started the Photoshop free trial a few days ago in order to work on school projects, having used the program before in school. However at home, I've encountered multiple issues, one being whenever I try to crop a picture, it turns white and I can't see what I am cropping. Another problem being none of the adjustments will apply to the picture as a whole, if I select a certain portion of the image, it will adjust that portion, however when nothing is selected, I cannot adjust the picture as a whole at all. If it is a malfunction of the free trial it certainly does not inspire me to go out and spend a lot of money on the full version. Why is this and how do I fix it?

That sounds like you are seeing video card driver bugs.
You can disable GPU drawing and restart Photoshop, or update the driver to pick up bug fixes.

What OS version are you using?
