This is a question about Photoshop.com. When you create an account, it requests you to choose a 'Personal URL.' It's essentially a username that you select that gets used as part of a URL if you choose to share your photos on Photoshop.com.

A little more detail on what the personal URL is used for:

Your personal URL is the web address of a page called “My gallery”. On your gallery page, you can manage your albums and share them with your friends on sites like Facebook and Twitter. You can visit it anytime by clicking My gallery in the Me menu or by navigating to your personal URL in a web browser.

The personal URL is also used as your username when you post comments on photos and video tutorials on Photoshop.com. It does not however follow you to the Feedback pages. That uses your real name or a different nickname you can set. It is however a required step in the account creation process, or when you log on to Photoshop.com for the first time with your Adobe ID.
