Photoshop: Main screen completely grey

... and whenever I 'open' a file, it stays grey. I can't see a thing. It's not a zoom problem. I've tried resetting. I can see the thumbnail fine in the layers panel, but I can't see the file to work on. Is there anything I can do?

Howdy Susan,

What application are you using?  Photoshop?  Elements?  Lightroom?  What version of the app are you running?  And what operating system are you running on?

My first thought is a problem with your GPU but answering these three questions will really help.

Thanks,
David

I'm using Photoshop CS6, David, on a Windows 7 system. I reinstalled the program and now it seems to be working, but I'm mystified as to what happened. Photoshop normally has its oddities - the first file I save after launching normally takes five minutes or so (though others save at normal speed) - but it's never failed to display images at all before.
Thanks, Susan

Hiya Susan,

Well, if the problem returns, please feel free to ping me here.  I can't guarantee how quickly I'll get back to you (I have insomnia tonight, otherwise you'd hear from me in five or six hours), but I try to check the forums every day that I'm working (at the office or not!).  And if I can't help you, I'm confident one of my colleagues can.

One thought, really quickly -- are you running the very latest version of CS6?  You can check by going to Help > Updates.

Hope that helps and have a great day,
David

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Is there really on way at all to get help? Do I just have to wait and see if any....

There seems to be no way at all to get help now that my Photoshop has gone blank on me and my work is in chaos. I can't view any file, though it shows OK in the layers window. I pay all this money for Photoshop and I can't even report when it collapses on me? In despair. Is there no way no way at all that I can contact anyone from Adobe and get them to replace my product, sort out my problem, get me woiring again,
