program error at launch with Photoshop CC 2014 on Mac OS 10.9.5 : an error reported several times in Adobe communities whitout official solution.

The error appears immediatly in a small "dialog" window. Not any number of error associated.

In French, my language the message is: "impossible d'initialiser photoshop en raison d'une erreur du programme").

In English, I guess it should be: "unable to initialize photoshop due to a program error". And then if I click OK Photoshop quits, otherwise the small window waits for me to click on OK.

I found among the replies one which works but that reveals a bug in Photoshop as far as my analysis as a programmer is correct. As a mater of fact, in order that photoshop works, I have to rename a directory.

The error disappears if I rename the directory library/Application Support/Adobe/Color/Settings as suggested by a member of the community in library/Application Support/Adobe/Color/~ Settings (that to say adding tilde and space before Settings).

As a miracle this magic solution works ! But I gess this will not be the cas with a further version.
Thanks for taking that into consideration because I have lost a lot of hours before getting this dangerous solution.

Ligthroom 5 dowloaded at the same time seams to work without any change.

Actually you corrected a permissions problem on your system. That directory should be there, and should be readable, with several files in it.
Unfortunately, what you are left with is also bad - because you've just set up Photoshop to use uninitialized variables for the color settings (something I fixed recently).
You really need to correctly fix the permissions problem, and get the correct contents for that directory so Photoshop can read the color settings files correctly.

Thanks for this begining of answer, but what am I supposed to do to go further? What should be the permissions? Why Photoshop seams to work when I change that name?

I have old versions of photoshop elements that I would like to keep perhaps they contribute to the problem because the Color directory have old stuff inside.

Photoshop is continuing silently past an error because it cannot find the directory. That causes another error because the values are uninitialized (because Photoshop defaulted back to the default file IN that directory that it cannot find).

The only useful information was from Chris Cox : a problem of permissions. Thank you Chris.

But not a convincing explanation of the fact that the magic trick was working. Not any suggestion to solve the problem : I tried to correct the permissions, but I did not had any idea of the number of files which were concerned, nor any idea of the permissions to set.

Without any help, I had to solve the problem. I hope that the next time I will download an Adobe product I will not be faced to the same problem.

I found a solution to the problem : I erased my system disk with all the consequence that I knew will follow. At the same time, I switched from Mavericks OS to Yosemite. Then I reinstalled completely all my applications on my mac after erasing all the internal disk.

Since my first use of mac OS (in 1986) untill now I had never had to do that for any installed product.

As a matter of fact, I do not know if it would have work if I had kept Mavericks OS.

This solved the problem but I had approximately one week of work to reinstall all my bought applications.
