Buying a new MacBook Pro 15" soon and was wondering what speed processor I should get - 2.8GHz, 2.9 or 3.1? My current MacBook Pro has trouble having PSE and several other applications (like Mail, Safari, PSE) open at the same time - runs very slow. I'm thinking I need to increase my processor speed? Does anyone know about this? My currently MacBook has 2.4GHz and I have plenty of storage remaining. TIA

My experience is the faster processor, the better. But even more important is the amount of RAM. 16 gig minimum. 32 is better. The more, the better. And a sufficiently large hard drive so you can have virtual memory and never get your drive over 75% full. Also back up the drive to another drive or two, preferably at least one offsite, often. (How are often are you willing to lose work?)

Thank you, Jonathan! That is good information. I just do PSE as a hobby but it's so frustrating when I open it and then have to close other apps (safari/mail) to make it run sufficiently.  Still not sure what speed I will get - thinking about the 2.9GHz.  :)
