I have a Mac Yosemite computer. I also have CC and have had some issues on PS with opening an image from the program itself. I get an error: Program Error. help me?

You get the message when using the OS open dialog? (ie: File-> Open)
But not when dragging a file to Photoshop, or when double clicking a file?

That's a very well known MacOS 10.10 bug, Apple is working on a solution.

Some people have had luck avoiding the OS bug by changing the view in the open/save dialog (to list or icons).

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled File -> Open "Could not complete your request because of a program error.".

"Could not complete your request because of a program error." popups up when I try and File -> Open. The Open dialog does not open. My only work around has been to close and re-open photoshop (so often!).

2012 Mac Air OS, 10.10.2, Photoshop 2014.2.2 (20141204.r.310 x64). This did not happen before I updated photoshop.

If I open like 10 files when I first open photoshop it's ok, but then when I forget I need one more file, I see this error, the programs only been open 15mins, I've barely done anything to trigger a program error! I have to close and reopen everything. Making a new file is possible. Dragging a file into a blank photoshop with nothing open does open a file. I can open recent files.

I updated to photoshop 2014.2.2 like a week ago, this message has appeared almost everytime I've left photoshop open for a while and try to open a message.

On Mac, OS X Yosemite 10.10.2, most updated version of Photoshop CC 2014 (as of 5/29/15)

When I try and open a new file with Command+O or through the drop down, I get the error message "Could not complete your request because of a program error".

I can still open files by locating them in Finder, and right click > open with.

My CC seems to be opening images now. I don't know if Apple has fixed the problem, but I no longer have the issue. I did try something different today, however. When I opened a photo from my Ex HD, in the window about "format" type, where it is set to default at "enable all readable documents" if my photo was a jpg I selected only jpg in that window instead of "enable all readable documents". If the image was a NEF file, I opened it up with Camera Raw. Seems to be working well!! finally!
