LRCC 7.3 Odd Behavior - Sluggish Sliders

When using LRCC 7.3 in the Develop Module, after editing an image for awhile, the sliders suddenly become "sluggish" and don't respond smoothly to edits.  I found that, if I go to my folders and change to a different image in a completely different folder, the sliders become responsive again but just for a little while and then exhibit the same behavior.  Jumping back and forth between folders is not a good workflow! Very weird...

PS...this is the same behavior on 2 different maxed out macs.

Determined that the sluggish sliders issue has something to do with with the graphics processor.  When turned on, sliders race slowly and there is a small spinning symbol in the bottom right of the main frame in the develop module.  It spins momentarily each time I adjust any slider.  Turning off the graphics processor restores the sliders to normal behavior and no spinning symbol.  Isn't this the opposite of what enabling the graphics processor should behave?  Very strange,,,
