Lightroom: on a machine that has LR 64 bit installed.... Is there a way and or How do you open in 32 bit . If so does LR then require a different cat.? Can you toggle between the 2( 64 and 32 bit?)? thanks

Generally, LR catalogs are open across the minor version numbers of LR, so a LR 3 catalog can be opened with any version of LR 3.x, and a LR 2 catalog can be opened with LR 2.x. You cannot open a LR 3 catalog with LR 2, and you cannot open a LR 2 catalog with LR 3 unless the catalog is converted to a new LR 3 format. It doesn't not matter if the executable is 32- or 64-bit.

You just can't open the catalog with two LR's at the same time as LR doesn't support multi-user access.

To install the 32-bit version of LR on a 64-bit system, you should look in the folder where the update-installer first extracted its files. If you need to, run the updater, again, to the first point where it stops after extracting things. You will find a setup32.exe and a setup64.exe. The 64-bit setup is chosen by default by the installer on a 64-bit system, but you can manually run and install the setup32.exe as well. It goes to Program Files (x86) so does not overwrite the 64-bit one in Program Files. The preferences are in C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Lightroom so are shared amongst any LR 3.x EXEs you have installed, but are specific for the user profile.

With both 32-bit and 64-bit LRs installed just start up the one you want to run via a shortcut.

I currently have the results of running setup32.exe from the LR 3.3 update-install and the results of running setup64.exe from the LR 3.4.1 update-4install on my computer and run whichever one I want to check for differences in processing.
