LR 5.5 SLOW with Mobile Sync on (MAC OS X 10.9.3)

New Lightroom 5.5 update is very slow in develop mode. Mac OS 10.9.3, 16GB RAM, 3.4 Ghz Core i7, I am getting spinning beachballs switching between photos or doing minor edits. Even when the beach ball doesn't spin, adjustments can take several seconds to appear. This didn't happen for me with 5.4.

INTERESTINGLY, turning off mobile sync in in identity pane solves the problem, at least until I turn it back on.

I am also experiencing slowness in develop mode in 5.5. Windows 8.1, 24GB RAM, 3.5GHz 8 core. It appears that every edit prompts a background sync if the photo being edited is in a synced collection. I synced some tonal adjustments to 170 images and the status bar showed 'Syncing 170...' and the machine ground to a halt for a few minutes.

I don't see a 'turn off mobile sync' setting either in Identity pane nor Preferences. Any idea where that would be in the Windows version?

Don't want to have to sign out just to disable syncing while editing.

PS Loving LightRoom mobile so far! 10,612 images loaded in 119 collections.

I installed 5.5 and had mobile sync enabled, and 5.5 in develop worked like a dog. Up to a second between moving a slider and the adjustment happening.

I uninstalled 5.5 - went back to 5.4 and things are fine - even when signed into sync. Installed 5.5 again - and this time turned off mobile sync (which I really want to use) and we're back to develop as normal.
