I am using LR 5.3 on Win7. All was well until today when the program refused to import any files from any source. Nothing shows up in the import preview screen. I reloaded the program, opened a new catalog, tried importing from various sources all to no avail. The program is of little value if I can' import new images. Can anyone help?

Is Copy chosen at the top of the Import dialog box?
Try resetting prefs: http://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom/kb/r...
Also, if you're using a card reader, try a different port and/or try connecting the camera directly to the computer.
What camera? What file types? Can you copy the images to the hard disk and see if Import works if you choose Add at the top of Import?
Sounds like it worked at one point -did anything change on the computer when it stopped working?

TinaC, You are my new "best friend". I deleted the preferences file and everything is working properly again. In response to your other questions I was unable to see photo from ANY source...card reader, hard drive, or camera in the Import preview window. The only change I had made to my computer was to do a monitor calibration profile with a Spyder 4 colorometer and save the profile. I don't know if this created the problem but I had read in some forum that LR uses the monitor profile differently than other programs and can cause "preview" issues. I went to WIN Control Panel/Color Management and deleted the Spyder generated profile (losing my calibration) and set it back to the default setting. That action however did not correct the LR Import problem so I figured maybe it didn't cause it. Deleting preferences did solve the problem. Do you think there is a connection or anticipate that calibrating my monitor at this time will result in the same problem?
Again I want to thank you for your quick and learned response. A grateful LR user for years....Gregg Longmeier.
