Did you export via the dialog or via export presets the last time?

Export as Previous works on previous export via the dialog, not export presets.

Yes, I know. But if you exporta user export template and then export as prevoius, the file created is a dng. Always.

I was trying to suggest that, perhaps, your last manual export was to dng... Thus, Export as Previous now cooks you dng's.

Export With Previous (Ctrl-Alt-Shift-E) only works with export previously performed via the Export dialog box. If you export by making a selection from the image's pop up menu, that will not be recognized by Export With Previous function. That function only seems to remember exports done via the formal dialog box, not the quick settings available on the right-click menus.

Export as Previous is working as designed. If you notice the Export with Previous is grouped with the main Export... command, and separated from the list of presets, below.

The current operation allows the user to select a preset to do something quickly but use Export with Previous as a quick way to accomplish what normally takes the full dialog to do with a preset overwriting the main dialog settings. If you want Export with Previous to do something that a preset does, then use the Export... panel once with the settings that Export preset uses and those will be remembered as your Export with Previous settings.

If Adobe changed things to have the Export presets change the Export with Previous settings then no doubt other people would complain to have it changed back.

Adobe made a conscious choice to have it work the way it does. Do you have what you feel is a compelling reason to have it work the other way, or are you just expecting it to be different and reporting this difference between the operation and your expectations?

Steve, my posting on this thread was done by our moderator merging similar topics. In the original thread linked in my post above, you will find my response to your earlier questions as to why I find the inconsistencies with "Export with Previous" usage troublesome to my workflow.
