I've been using Lightroom 4 for a couple of weeks now, noticed today when I went into that the Basic panel has reverted to the Lightroom 3 layout. The LR 4 layout is there while a picture loads, but as soon as it is loaded it flicks back to the LR 3 layout, with Exposure, Recovery, Fill Light, and Blacks sliders that go from 0 to 100, instead of negative and positive.

Make sure the photo you're working with is set to Process version 2012 (in the Camera Calibration panel, the last panel on the right). If the Process version is 2010 or 2003, the Basic panel controls will match Lightroom 3.
