The Auto Exposure control does not seem to care that I've cropped a photo. Is this normal behavior?

Well, technically, a crop does nothing to the information in the raw image. So, it's not like the raw information it can work on has changed.
I suppose it wouldn't be too hard to have the auto presets sample the cropped information, if that even makes sense to the processing pipeline. And, of course, the auto presets might already do this. I just recall reading about this, perhaps on the older Adobe forums.

Hello!
How do you see that the cropped part of image has been modified by auto-exposure?

Laurent,
Auto exposure doesn't respect the crop. It gives values based on the whole image regardless of whether you've cropped it. A problem, IMHO.

It's very very odd that the auto exposure doesn't consider what I consider to be the image. Is there any rational explanation for this? Is this a feature request?
