Lightroom 4.1 RC2 severe problems with the Synchronize Folder... comamnd-right click on a folder.
I have placed a file (image raw CR2_) into a folder via external copy and then in LR4.1RC2 right clicked the folder and selected the above command.. The resulting Dialog box shows one file to be imported. Clicking Synchronize results in no file being added. This applies whether Show Dialog is selected or not.

System:Mac Pro 2009, 12GB, OS 10.6.8

There were problems with the Synch command not appearing in the right click dialog box. But I can't reproduce the error. This flaw shows repeatedly.

No problems noted with Windows 7 SP1 64 bit. Synchronize and Import handles correctly. So problem is restricted to Mac OSX 64 it.

Further to the Synchronize problem on OSX...

The problem seems to be a corruption problem in the LR database...
When the Show impost box before importing option was selected during synchronization, two images showed in the box although there was only one changed image. The 'ghost' image had been deleted previously (form disk) but was showing in the Import screen and was selected. If it was left selected, the import failed. If it was unselected, the import worked.

Repairing disk permissions on the catalog disk had no effect. Ditto for catalog optimizing. The problem disappeared when the offending folder was deleted from the catalog and then re-imported.

A catalog backup was made at the start of the process. The resulting optimization and error checking in the catalog had no effect. Only deleting the offending folder and then importing or synchronizing corrected the problem.

Thanks
