LR 4.1 (final) eats up memory

I have a Mac Pro with 16 GB of RAM. If I browse through my LR catalogue in grid view (with the arrow key) after a while (browsing from picture 1 to picture 20.000something - checked it even with putting a weight on the keyboard ;-)) the "Free Memory" in the Activity Monitor is down to a couple of megabytes. And it doesn't go up again even after waiting for quite some time.

This might not be a real world problem - all in all I am quite satisfied with the speed - but It might give some hint on a memory leak.

Any feedback appreciated.

Your test isn't really indicating much. It isn't actually a problem if Free Mem drops a lot. The question is, when some other app needed memory resources, was that allocation able to be provided?

Take the weight off the keyboard and see.

Because if only one app is really active, and it starts making request after request, and there is no other allocations requested, the OS will not hesitate to give that app the resource.

After all, that 16GB is a waste of money unless it gets used.

Memory management is really about how memory is given away, but how memory is taken back and redistributed over time.
