LR 3.4.1 crashes (exits suddenly) in develop module while loading picture. I just updated my XP LR 3.3 to LR 3.4.1 and when I went to Develop module, it crashed. Now LR always crashes when starting it (goes to Develop module and tries to load a picture). What can I do?

If its tied to develop module, consider deleting your previews and acr-cache. Do you know how to find them? If that does not work, rename your catalog so Lr can't find it and see if it will come up with no catalog (Will Mac still find the catalog even after renaming?). Maybe see what happens with that much before going further... (there are other forum members better at troubleshooting this than I am, but if you're game, then I'm game... - at least until someone better comes along)

Hold down the Ctrl key while you start LR and let it create a new catalog, and just import a few photos as a test - see if it works then. Depending on the result of that, we'll know which way to go next.

We need to narrow it down to whether it's something about that specific photo, that specific catalog, or Lightroom overall.

One other thought - run the update installer again - as you've specifically said that it was just after upgrade, I wonder whether it simply didn't install properly.

No improvement after re-install. Also crashes when trying to create a new Catalog, because tries to go to Develop module in the new Catalog. HEEEELP!

OK I discovered the reason. There is an compatibility issue with Wacom Bamboo driver. I installed the latest driver at the same time as LR 3.4.1. Now I removed it and LR no longer crashes.

Martti, thanks for the update and the solution. Do you know what driver version # you had that caused this problem?

It was the latest Bamboo driver from Wacom website.

and the latest driver from the wacom website doesn't appear to work either. Seriously, do they test these drivers?

I initially had the problem of crashing in Development module but that went away when I installed the latest Wacom driver (dated January 25, 2012).
