LR6 (LR CC) in preferences the reset buttons do seem to work fully? Try checking/unchecking B & W mix then hit reset. Nothing happens either way for me? This is NOT how a reset all settings work.

This is what I see Lr CC doing starting with a colour image:

1. Click B&W to convert to black and white. Lr CC has made an auto adjustment of the Black & White Mix adjustment sliders. That is they are non-zero.
2. Turning off Black & White Mix results in a black & white view with all adjustment sliders set to zero.
3. Reset by Shift+double clicking Black & White Mix results in all adjustment sliders set to zero.

In other words, turning off or resetting does not return to a colour image. (Use '\' to do that.) I don't recall if this behaviour has changed in Lr 6/CC but if it has I like it!

I am confused here. This was a stock install of LR6/CC. At no time did I alter or wish to alter any settings. I certainly did not want to set ALL my colour images to black & white .

Why then did "convert to dng" (which crashed incidentally saving my remaining images) change my image to B & W with a default setting?

If converting to DNG changed your images to black and white then I'm also confused. You may wish to post to the Lightroom forum for a potentially larger audience.
