LightRoom 6 facial recognition tags wrong photos after accepting face

Yesterday i gave the facial recognition a first try and it works fine. I did run into one problem though. I looked at a filtered part of the catalogue (on date and camera model) and allowed LR6 to look for faces. After confirming the faces I noticed that a people tag of myself was added to some general landscape photos so i removed it from the keyword list.
At that time the Grid people view showed the pictures again with my recognized face, let's say in picture IMG_100, but when i selected the photo with me in it, LR6 highlighted some landscape picture IMG_234 without any face in it. So if i would confirm the face selection, it would have added my name to the landscape picture again.

LR6 often identifies patches of ground, trees, snow, etc as 'faces' if it finds spots, depressions, etc that are anything vaguely face-like. So it might have found some patches in your landscape that look like a face - 2 dots for eyes, one dot for a nose, and a patch for a mouth!!

It's amazing what it will come up with.

Hi i also noticed the false face detection in patterns etc., but that is not the case here:

- LR6 clearly snippet my face from picture A and put it in the row of "to be marked" faces, even with my name underneath. But if i highlight that face, it maps a completely other image B in the thumbnail row at the bottom of LR. So if i confirm with the 'V' icon, it will mark image B with people keyword 'Peter'

by the way, the original image A did correctly find and mark me in it (with the same cut-out of my face)

Hi Peter,

I'm not able to reproduce this problem. When I select a face in the "Named People" or "Unnamed People" sections of the grid, the correct photo is selected in the filmstrip (the thumbnail row at the bottom of Lr). If you have reproducible steps for getting this problem to occur, let me know, I'd love to track it down!

Thanks,
Ben

The face recognition on LR6 is really poor! Google Picassa from 2008 or thereabouts does a much better job. I thought things might have improved since then but not with LR6.
