LR4 won't display ANY files in grid view on one folder

I think I found a bug in the Lightroom 4 library grid view filtering system

This is a new problem, and I've been using LR heavily since version 2. The folder in the navigator pane in the left column shows 1922 files. Windows Explorer shows the files really are present in the folder. The problem is specific to one specific folder. The files are nearly all CR2 raw files from a Canon 7D.

When I click on the folder in navigator pane, instead of displaying thumbnails it displays "No photos in selected folder"

The only way I can get some of the files to display is to filter by rating greater than or equal to 1 star, which displays the ones I have rated so far. But if I filter by rating less than or equal to 5 stars, no files will show. Since all rated files have 2 to 4 stars, it is not logical that the files that display when fitering on greater than 1 star will not also display when filtering for less than 5 stars, but that's what I get.

My filenames all consist of a 5 digit number and the file type extension, mostly CR2, and a few JPG and TIF

If I filter by Text > Filename > contains > 0, I see all files containing zeros in the filename. But if I filter by filename contains 2, which is nearly all of them, I get the message no files match the filter.

If I filter by filename contains jpg, I see all of the jpg files. But if I filter by filename contains CR2, I get no files, even though there are over 1900 of them in the folder.

Likewise if I filter by filename "doesn't contain" CR2 I see all of the JPG files. But if I filter by filename doesn't contain JPG I get no files.

My system is Win 7 Home Premium 64-bit with 16 GB of RAM and a 6-core AMD Phenom CPU and a few terabytes of hard drive space.

Try going to map, turning on the filters and then off, going back to grid and restarting LR.

Tried that, but it didn't help. Think I better get LR 4.1

One more thing, I did import the files into the Lightroom catalog. I tried to see if I could re-import them in place, but LR says the files have already been imported. I tried removing the folder from the catalog, and then importing it again. That worked fine at first, but after I had done about an hour's work rating some files and rejecting and deleting others, I was back to the original problem, no files display.

With no files showing up, I am unable to work on them in LR, and I've got a deadline nearing. Help, please!

I just downloaded and installed LR 4.1 RC2 and the problem is solved. At least for now. It's possible that something in the LR 4.0 installation got corrupted, and reinstalling 4.0 might have fixed it. But I didn't try that. I decided to try the latest version instead and that DID fix it. Yea!!
