Hi,

I’m back of a trip with over 4000 raws from different cameras on LR on my iPad. How do I get them back on LR on my computer ?

Thanks,

Assuming you have a subscription, and are signed in on your iPad and computer, nothing. Just wait. The files will sync up via Adobe's servers and then appear in the synced catalogue.

20 Go would would only sync 500 raws and take ages. And how could I see what pictures are already saved and which are not?

Synced photos appear in the 'All Synced Photographs' collection in Lightroom Classic. If you select a photo and press the Delete key, that photo will be removed from the cloud, but not from Lightroom Classic. This way you could download all the photo in chunks.

Yes I have a subscription. (And expect regular updates fixing bugs and flaws).

It seems more a workaround than a real solution, but i’ll give it a try...

Why not implement something like USB transfer or WiFi sync?

It certainly isn't a workaround, Antoine, it's the underlying concept. After all, if you had enough cloud space, you wouldn't need to remove stuff. It would just arrive in your catalogue.

Local sync has been requested many times. But in theory, why would anyone need it?

Why?
Because uploading in chunks of 20Go is a slow and painful process! LR is supposed to be somewhat a pro tool. Storage now goes to hundreds of Go’s.
If it were at least possible to sync folder after folder. But no.
If it synced folder hierarchy. Again...
If it synced keywords, we could a least filter out by keyboard (“sync ok” or whatever).
I’m sick of being a beta tester of such an expensive piece of s**tware.

Uploading in chunks is only because you didn't extend your CC storage space to 1 TB. Like John said: if you had 1 TB of online space, you would not need to do this.

So basically what you are saying is "Because I refuse to pay Adobe an extra $ 10 per month for sufficient storage space, they should enable WiFi sync (for free)". Does that sound like a very realistic request to you?

Blocking requested features for the sole reason to push already paying customers to upgrade for something they don’t want or need? Does that sound realistic? It unfortunately does!

Ever heard of USB, by the way?

Er, providing a service with a range of price points? You don't want to pay the full whack, fine, you don't get the service that suits the volume you have shot.

Nothing stops you connecting your iPad via USB, and copying the raw files onto your computer.

1 To would not suit as it would take ages to sync...

USB would be done in minutes.

Oh, interesting! Is there a way to sync over USB?

You can't "sync" over USB. You can just copy the files from the iPad to the computer. So maybe do this. What you might also consider is finding which images you have put lots of time into editing on the iPad, and allowing only those images to sync. You could do this by star ratings, for example, but be careful.

In the maybe-near future, and on some systems now, it won't take ages to sync so many files.  Everything will go to the cloud, and stay there. Imagine....
