Lightroom: Incredibly slow after macOS Sierra 10.12 update

LR is incredibly slow after Mac Sierra. 3-4 second delay when making major exposure adjustments, can't click the slider bar to move the indicator unless it's a significant adjustment. tried rebooting, tried cleaning up extra space, tried cleaning caches. nothing helps. already using CC and most recent update.

I had a similar experience. Found 2 things were happening behind the scenes. 1) I had the Sync on for LightRoom Mobile, 2) Windows 10 was receiving and applying an update. Hope this helps.

how do i make sure the sync is turned off? 
I have a Mac, so windows isn't the issue. lol

I use a mac Mini (late 2009) edition, and a Windows 10 PC. In the Library or Develop module, click once above the "Navigator" in the upper Left in the identity plate area. if it reads "Sync with Lightroom Mobile Paused" then it's stopped. My Mac Mini now serves multiple functions (drink coaster, web server, music player).

If your mac is new enough to be able to use a graphics processor, Edit | Preferences | performance tab and click "use Graphics Processor". If LR already has it checked, then uncheck it to see if there is a performance gain. You will have to restart Lightroom for that setting t o be certain to take effect.

Is Time Machine running in the background or some other app? You may have to use the activity monitor to see. Maybe your system is running low on resources I don't know.

To confirm, the sliders in the develop module are slow? It may help if we could see your Lightroom System Info. Launch Lightroom, and select Help > System Info... and copy/paste the text in a reply.

One other quick question, if you open the same file in Camera Raw in Photoshop, are the sliders just as slow there? (I suspect that are, but want to confirm on your system)

I recently updated my 27" iMac to Mac OS Sierra. Since the update LR 2015.7 is performing very poorly especially in the develop module. It is very laggy and unresponsive. Has lost all fluidity during editing. Every adjustment I make takes 2-3 seconds to apply. Cropping and white balance adjustments are particularly slow but over all performance is poor. My iMac spec is a 3.5GHz i7 Processor with 16Gb RAM and a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 775M 2048 MB graphics card so it's not exactly an underpowered machine!! I have tried the "Use Graphics Processor" option set to on and off but with no improvement? Are Adobe aware of these issues and is anyone else experiencing similar problems?? It would be good to try reset your Lightroom user preferences to see if it helps since there are two upgrades involved -- the OS and Lr 6.7. Hold down Option+Shift (Mac) or Alt+Shift (Win) when launching Lr.

Also, are there any changes to your Lightroom workflow when you do the testing? Are there any particular develop settings that could contribute to the slowdown. What happens if you try reset the settings and start from there? What camera model are the photos captured from?

Thanks Simon. I have reset my user preferences and performance has seemed to improve greatly. I haven't worked on a full shoot edit yet so I will monitor performance during my next edit and report back :D

Hello guys, I have the same issue as Jen described above. The performance issue is one thing and resetting LR preferences actually helps for a while, it then goes back to being somewhat sluggish.

What I am asking about now is actually her other issue, the one where previously, clicking left or right quite near the slider indicator with your mouse or trackpad would let you adjust the slider in very small increments. After updating to Sierra, you would have to be clicking farther from the indicator for anything to actually happen. I am quite used to this way to make minor adjustments quickly in my workflow and I'm just wondering if there is any way to get this back? I have a feeling this isn't a bug, it's actually a change in functionality with the update (either OSX or LR). Anyone else have the same issue?
