TL;DR version: There should be an option that counts the number of images in a folder and adds 1 to that, for non-consecutive export sequencing

And / or the Julian day option in the Filename Template Editor should allow you to pick today's day, or the day the image was captured

------------------------------

Longer version:

I'm doing a 365 photography challenge at the moment - 1 photo a day for a year. I set up my Filename Template to use an image / sequence number. I discovered that it's only useful if I export more than 1 photo at once. If I export one photo a day, or export images when I'm done editing (so one by one), my sequence / image number is always 1 (or whatever I set sequence to start at)

Lightroom needs an option that counts the number of images in a folder and adds 1, so you get a sequence in that folder, regardless of when you export

Or it needs a second option that lets you pick which Julian day you want -- Today's day (e.g. Jan 2nd = Day 2) or when the image was actually taken (e.g. Dec 19th = 354)
