Excessive Memory Consumption. Installed LR 6.1.1. Have around 200k images in media library. LR is scanning for People in background and causes excessive memory allocation requests through Run Time Broker. Can use up to 30GB of memory and then application crashes due to lack of memory. Please fix this basic issue.

Should add Windows 10 and 32GB System Ram.

Our QE have obviously tested this scenario previously. Can you post your system info? Have indexing gone through all your 200K images at this point? That is a lot of photos to go through in a single wave. :-).

PC Configuration:
OS Name Microsoft Windows 10 Pro
Version 10.0.10240 Build 10240
Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2600K CPU @ 3.40GHz, 3401 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 8 Logical Processor(s)
Physical Memory 32.0 GB
Graphics AMD Radeon HD 7800 Series

Images are processed at around 30k per day. So it will take over a week to build the People DB.

But as I said, it crashes every few hours due to no memory. I restarted LR 3 hours ago when I raised the ticket. The image attached shows memory consumption from that zero baseline. Only a couple of thousand images have been processed (if that). Runtime Broker has been requested to reserve over half the system memory in 3 hours (16GB). PC Restart is needed to reclaim all leaked memory.

Apparently RuntimeBroker is used for Metro apps -- so some metro app you are running is consuming quite a bit of RAM.

Thanks for suggestion but I don't have any metro apps installed (other than any that are bundled in windows) and certainly don't use any. The problem is only evident when running Lightroom.

I just tried to convert my lib to dng and lightroom crashed with runtime broker using up most of my mem. I can reproduce this if needed as well.

16GB system here.

I dug into the runtime broker process and its accessing the library being processed by lightroom so its a bug either on the windows or LR side.
