LR does not automatically recognize Canon16-35 2.8 mark II. It is not available in a pick list either when I manually select Canon.   I have MAC OS High Sierra 10.13.1.  Help!  I need to get this functioning within a week for a job.

Are you looking at a JPEG file perhaps?

Lens profiles are file-format specific. A raw profile doesn't show up for a JPEG and vice-versa. Double check your file type and make certain you are looking at a raw file.

If you are, go to Help>System Info... and verify your LIghtroom version and compare it to this information: https://helpx.adobe.com/camera-raw/kb/supported-lenses.html

It was indeed a JPEG.  I switched to raw and now LR does not recognize the raw file and I cannot open it

What is your current camera's model?
What is your current Lightroom version? (From Help>System Info...)

I checked on the website for the most recent version of Classic which is 7.0.1.  I downloaded it and problem seems to be solved.  Thank you
