I am suddenly having problems with the graduated adjustment in LR Classic. It now applys the adjustments I make after I draw the area to the whole image and not to just the graduated area. I have used all versions of LR classic and never had this problem before. It suddenly started happening so I updated to version 9 which unfortunately hasnt solved the issue. I am on a MAC with High Sierra OS. Please can anyone help? Thanks

A Preference File will survive a Lightroom uninstall/reinstall. Sometimes weird behavior is corrected/cured by resetting the preferences.

Reset Procedure:

1. Close Lightroom.
2. Hold down [Alt/Opt]+[Shift] while restarting Lightroom.
3. Overwrite the Preferences when prompted by the dialog.
4. Close Lightroom.
5. Restart Lightroom.

Does the behavior continue after resetting the preferences?

Check the following: you can collapse the slider section of the graduated filter, so the sliders do not show. If you have done so by mistake, you could easily be moving the general sliders now, thinking that you are moving the filter sliders.

I'm having this problem too. And it's not because the graduated filter sliders are collapsed down.  Pic shows the screen with an exaggerated adjustment. If I click on overlay, it shows a graduated effect across the whole image.

I too am having this issue. Googling the issue brought me here. It works fine in Photoshop CC 2020's Camera Raw. I have the latest version of Lightroom Classic and Camera Raw.

Did you reset the preferences using the procedure from my previous post?

Yes I did. I'm using Windows 10 Home 64 bit and when I hold down ALT and SHIFT keys while launching Lightroom I get a screen asking "Select a recent catalog to open". I get nothing asking to reset preferences.

Also it is my radial filter that is not working. Graduated filter is fine. Sorry about that.
