Lightroom Classic: Freezes on startup. Win10, 32 gig.

I use 2 catalogs to separate my office work from personal images.  One is 44K images, located on my primary internal hard disk.  One is 80K on an an attached USB 3 drive.  Running Win 10 w/ 32 gig.
Randomly and starting from either drive, LR 7.5 freezes on startup.  Up 3 or more shutdowns are required to successfully open.  Occationally I have to resort to using the Task Manager to close LR.
System manaintenace: I perform regular system maintenace to clear deleted files and to clean system files.  LR freezes appear unrelated to system maintenance.
LR is set to optimize and backup catalogs on every shutdown.

One thing you could try is to disable use of GPU in Preferences > Performance by unchecking the checkbox "Use Graphics Processor. Restart Lightroom afterwords to activate your choice. If that helps, you have an issue with your graphics card software. You may try to update it from the cards web page, not using Windows Update.

Try press Shift+Alt during Lightroom launch to reset the Lr preferences, to see if it helps.

I know you are just trying to help, but

The issue is random, so I frankly don't see the value of doing something that I cannot prove to be effective.

I know it isn't your fault, and you probably cannot influence a real fix, but...

I'd suggest that Adobe fix all the stuff it broke via creating unstable LR & Photoshop platforms before shovelling out more buggy software.

Perhaps both LR and Photoshop should be rolled back by one or two years, then real improvements made to a stable platform based on what the customer's actually want.

Draconian?  Perhaps, or maybe we happless customers can all just find something else to use.

I do not experience random problems like you, and it can be hard to track down problems like this. They could be caused by different issues. I use Lightroom on both Mac Book pro and Windows, and it is rock steady. My catalog is beyond 100K photographs. The only issue I can remember from the last years, was this spring. Finally I had to delete the previews. You could very well try to rename the previews. This will force Lightroom to build new previews, which it will do when needed. If it helps, delete the old previews.

@Arnold Hoddevik -- Will it be possible for you to share your catalog. Moreover, what is the type of your USB3 drive -- Hard Disk or SSD? What issue you see on them when you open only one of the catalogs. One person from Engineering Team will contact you, for your catalogs, in case you can share them.

Thanks for your offer to help, but there is nothing to help me with at the moment. I am not the person in this thread who has problems with Lightroom. I try to help other with their problems, and I give a lot of courses in using Lightroom. My Windows 10 PC has a SSD C-drive and a 4 Tb internal SATA disk for storing photographs. My Lightroom is 99,9 % rock steady, except for one time this spring, when the previews got corrupted, and had to be deleted.  My Mac Book pro Lightroom is also in perfect shape.
