Lightroom Classic 7.1: Freezes MacOS High Sierra

When Lightroom is opened (sometimes as focused app, sometimes in the background), if freezes my entire Mac (even the mouse stops working).  It happens at least once a day.  I have yet to identify a specific workflow when that happens.  The only way out is a cold reboot.

Well that’s a sad story I follow the beta program for High Sierra and haven’t had any problems, being a technician I might suggest a memory upgrade as much as you can or afford, apps today like memory and to me 8GB is bear bone for the Mac or any other x64 but applications. I upgraded my iMac just before Xmas.  I used to run LR Classic on my 2009 iMac with only 4 GB of RAM and it worked fine.  It was slow but it wasn't crashing.

Please give your Mac the "once over"! Run the free Onyx (https://www.titanium-software.fr/en/onyx.html), reboot. Run Disk Warrior if you can ($120),  (https://www.alsoft.com), reboot. If you can’t afford Disk Warrior, at least run First Aid from Disk Utility. Also try launching Lightroom from your other (admin or test) account, with a new catalog, as a test. Does it run OK?  If it doesn't crash it may be a corrupted preference in your User/Library. Check The Lightroom Queen site for instructions on how to reset your preferences (https://www.lightroomqueen.com). If that doesn't work you could try deleting that entire Adobe folder (reboot), or better use App Cleaner to completely delete everything Adobe and reinstall it from scratch (as a LAST RESORT!)

When I recently (in February) opened Adobe Creative Cloud in a Windows 10/64-bit Pro machine, an update of this application started automatically. During the entire update operation, the pointing device (mouse) was locked, not only if in the update window but everywhere. The same occurred when performing subsequent updates of other applications, such as Photoshop, and it did not matter, if Adobe Creative Cloud was started fresh in-between. My impression was that only the pointing device was locked, not the entire system.
I have seen a similar behaviour also when no Adobe application was seemingly involved, why I am not quite sure what caused it. It has not reoccurred so far. An upgrade of the Windows OS occurred shortly before the upgrade of Adobe Creative Cloud.
