LR Classic: don't download all my mobile files during sync

I just activated the sync option in my Lightroom classic, with the goal to share some smart previews of my projects in my large local database. Basically I just want to upload stuff.

But now LR classic is starting by downloading everything thats in my LR mobile cloud, 30 GB of RAW files that are already stored locally anyway, completely unnecessary, I don't need another copy of them.

Is there any way I can use LR classic sync function without storing a local copy of the whole cloud archive?

The short answer is no. Lightroom Classic is designed to be “the local keeper of photos” so it’s a bit of a hoarder.

Ok, what about the smartpreviews of the collections I push from classic to the cloud, will it re download these too?

I read somewhere that people create a collection for sharing photos in  LR mobile, like an import folder for phone raws and share that with LR classic, that seems unnecessary if classic is downloading all of it anyway.

But then, guess I don't need Cloud LR and Classic LR on my desktop side by side and can just stick with Classic.
