Lightroom Classic: Doesn't recognize duplicates when photos were already synced from Lightroom mobile

I imported pictures selectively to LR/Mobile on my iPad as I traveled, in order to post them for friends.  Then I sync'd to LR Classic once home, migrated the photos to the LR Classic file structure, and removed them from sync.  Had hoped to then import the remaining pictures directly to LR Classic from the camera card.  But my test pic, despite having *exactly* the same: Original Name; Capture Date & Time, and File Size, was not recognized as a duplicate.  What's wrong?

A bit more data to help sleuths.  I imported the duplicate picture so I could look at both sets of metadata.  The "sync'd" version has:
File Name: "20190625-_DSC0434.ARW"
Original Filename: "_DSC0434.ARW"
File Size: 23.83MB
Date Time Original: 6/25/19 3:03:56 PM
   and it also has:
Sidecar Files: XMP

The duplicate (imported off the SD card after the above file was sync'd to LR Classic) has:
File Name: "20190625-_DSC0434-2.ARW"
There is NO Original Name listed (on the SD card it is "_DSC0434.ARW"
File Size: 23.83MB
Date Time Original: 6/25/19 3:03:56 PM

Hope this helps

My perspective is that this is a really useful workflow for Adobe Cloud.  I don't want to keep originals in the cloud; I have too many.  But I do want to post as I travel.  And I don't want to duplicate those edits at home, of course!  I had hoped that I could use the Lightroom family to achieve this, but it's not looking good.

Thanks for any help.

Hello, to avoid problems, you have to define the import of RAW files from LR to LR Classic with the same automatic sorting parameters.
For example: AAAA / AAA-MM- JJ / filename

1  We wait for the end of the sync, then we install the memory card in the reader of the computer where we run LR Classic and we import normally.

Si we do as the imports and the development done on LR will be in a virtual copy near the sticker showing the copy on LR Classic, we can then delete the copies of the original files of LR and are catalog on the Cloud, simply by deleting from the 'All Synchronized Pictures' views in the LR Classic catalog.

We will then be able to share a new collection again to find the dynamic overviews on LR (Cloud).

Hello Yves,  thank you for this.  I am a little unclear on your suggestion.

In the first paragraph I think you are suggesting that I should have set some sort parameter to control the import of RAW fiels to LR Classic from LR.  What is the parameter and how do I set it?  I'm not aware of any such control.

I understand your second paragraph and it is encouraging!

I'm afraid I don't understand your third paragraph at all.  Could you explain further?

Thanks!

Hello, before any work with LR and LR Classic, it is necessary to define a standard of classification, otherwise it will go in peanuts ...

Look at the relations of the parameters of classification... Here on macOS

Hi Yves,  thank you for this.  Here is the equivalent setting I am using.  They are different from yours but I would have thought well within what should work?

All the pictures of july in the file of july ....
It is not good, it takes a file a day because in LR the files are classified in a file a day, according to the mark of apparatus photo, the files are named by day ... It is preferable to classify them also by day ....

The part in red has been added after since the library via the Rename Folder menu.

Here follow a single card import, some photos on my iPad in LR, sync to LR Classic.
Introduction of the same card in the iMac, and further to the import into LR Classic.

Hi Charlie,

The above behaviour explained in the workflow video by Yves is the expected and intended behaviour. When the same image is already in the Classic catalog, and you try to import the same image again, the import window shows the already existing image as greyed out(meaning it is already present in the catalog).

Are you seeing something different which is not mentioned in the video above?
Could you please attach a video explaining your workflow for us to better understand your issue so that we can investigate further.

Also as a matter of fact, the renaming of the file can happen in this scenario :
Initially you sync the image 20190625-_DSC0434.ARW from phone, and when it downloads in Classic, it is downloaded to the specified location. Now if you delete this image from the catalog(only the catalog and not from the system), its reference is removed only from the catalog whereas the image is physically present in that particular location. When you resync this image again from LrMobile, the file again tries to download in the same location. Since it is already present there, sometimes it may create a new file with this name 20190625-_DSC0434-2.ARW. Is this what you were seeing?

Thanks,
Arjun

Hi all, yesterday I loaded 4 photos on my iPad for a card number, so in LR.
back home, I open LR Classic, I wait until the end of the synchronization, then I dump the rest of the same card n ° 1.
only the missing photos were loaded into the same folder, since the definitions of import records are the same for LR and LR Classic.
the Collection corresponding to the LR Album was correctly completed.
I simply remove these 4 photos of all synchronized and removed the synchronization and this collection. And as I expected, I found free space on the Cloud, the album disappeared in the next synchronization. It is perfectly what I want and now I have my workflow perfect for when I travel and repatriation of all my photos in my unique catalogue LR Classic on my iMac central.
I'm very happy now.
I suggest Adobe of do a complete tutorials of this type of workflow, it would be very useful to people who don't yet understand this way of thinking. .
