Must the Lr mobile (IOS) apps be updated at the same time as the Lr Classic desktop app?
When will these Lr mobile apps be available in appstore?

The LR mobile apps are all rolling out today, so it should appear in your app store soon, if it's not there already.

But does this mean that I should wait updating the Lr classic (desktop version) ?

No, you'd be fine to go ahead with Classic. I would recommend you test it on a clean catalog however, just in case there are any major bug/interactions with your system, since you can roll back the catalog to an earlier version.

Victoria, you give good and precise answers. But this one is not very reassuring :-)

Thanks anyway.

Keep an eye on my blog post for updates. I've started it with:

Before you jump to upgrade, a word of warning is in order. Performance is a tricky thing. Making a feature faster on one computer can make it slower on another, and the code changes are so widespread, it can create bugs in seemingly unrelated areas. I’d recommend exercising a little caution because opening a catalog into 7.0 upgrades the catalog format, so you can’t easily roll back to 2015.12 if you run into problems. Lightroom 7.0 can be installed alongside Lightroom CC 2015, so if you’re an early adopter, perhaps test it using a clean catalog before upgrading your main working catalog, just in case. I’ll compile the early feedback into a blog post over the next week or two.

I am testing with an old catalog - but robustnes as for catalog format upgrade should be covered intensely during test activities.

I am currently testing on an old version of my catalog. If the speed is not up - it will take most of the night. It barely moves.

But, advice taken - i am testing the catalog format upgrade on an old catalog.

Lr mobile apps (IOS) is the Lr CC, right?

So if i am working with the Lr Classic (desktop), and i share collections to mobile devices (IOS) - on the IOS device i am using the Lr CC mobile app (view smart previews shared from the desktop - as in the previous version of Lr).

Ps:
Boy, it is kind of hard to explain the use and integration between these two Lr products :-)

Yes (and yes, it's going to take a while for us all to get our heads round it!)

I'm not on the payroll. I'm an Adobe Community Professional, which means Adobe decided I know what I'm talking about and I help lots of users. I've also been a Lightroom author for 10 years, so I know it pretty well.

You are good at answering questions. I have used Lr pretty much since the start. I used it every day and until now, pretty much every feature. Unfortunately i have discovered a lot of problems with Lr - many many performance related. I have a lot of diagnostics, but have given up on the Adobe contact/communication - i really do not think they care for this communication.

Well, lets see what this release brings. The split into Lr Classic and Lr CC is not that easy to explain. I am flodded with questions from friends and colleges.

I've got a bunch of blog posts on my Lightroom Queen blog, but it seems to have crashed under the sudden traffic. When it resurrects itself, they will hopefully help you answer all those questions.
