Lightroom Classic 8.4.1: Repeatedly crashes and requires reboot to connect to Catalog

LR Classic 8.4.1 has been repeatedly crashing on Windows 10 (1903 build 18362.418).  I don't have to be performing any action and it will 'suspend' according to Win Task Manager and then shut down.  The problem does not occur with Photoshop. Often, I will try to restart LR and the it tells me the catalog is in use and can't be opened (no surprise there).  Thus I have to reboot only to have the problem reoccur minutes to hours later.  I'm up to date on LR Classic, Win 10 and NVidia Drivers - and I have turned off the use of GPU in LR anyway. I have uninstalled and reinstalled LR and PS.  I've opened a new catalog and imported the old one so I can try to work. The only thing that might be different from Adobe software point of view is that I have begun use and sync to LR Mobile and Porfolio - were I just put together a web site.  I have read many suggestions on this type of issue and found nothing that resembles an answer.  Help.

First up, “does not occur with Photoshop”, meaningless.

Photoshop is a pike in comparison to Lightroom when it comes to hardware abuse by a program. And Photoshop is better at using CPU and GPU to an advantage.

Not to be an Adobe fanboy, but this sounds like hardware related problems that Lightroom is tripping upon. Actual hardware, hardware drivers, hardware resources.

As you have WIN OS, you have an event viewer. What event errors are showing up? At least look at the critical ones.

Also, in device manager, any errors?

Does the RAM  test out Ok

Do any of your hard drives have issues, any of them, not just the one your catalog is in.

Desktop, or Notepad/Laptop, if a desktop, how clean are the airflow filters, how much dust is inside. Is this computer overheating.

If notepad/laptop, does this problem occur only when on battery?

What external USB devices are connected? Misbehaving Android phone, sick Wacom tablet, etc

After a crash, do you see a Crash Reporter appearing? Please submit it by adding your e-mail address. We would be able to get more information to analyze this issue further.

If you see a message saying "catalog is in use", deleting the lrcat.lock file that appears beside the catalog file may help to open Lightroom Classic without a reboot.

Thanks,
Sunil

Yes, I have submitted crash report with my email.  However, I have fixed the problem.  While backing up my disk, I identified two files that would stop the system (file manager in this case).  I then went back and ran chkdsk /r/f from amin console and it also identified the same two files and fixed the disk.  LR has been running for about 3 days now with no issues.  Interesting how a minor disk issue on a data drive (not the catalog drive) brought everything down.
