Lightroom CC 2015.12: macOS Sierra 10.12.6 - memory leak during Import or when left open for long periods

I have been getting this since the CC2015.12 release. 

For me, I can reproduce it reliably by plugging in a device with a lot of photos on it (might be my phone, or a particularly loaded card on one of the cameras), and telling LR to import only new photos. It churns away gobbling ram until it has used all the available physical ram, and the same amount in compressed ram. I have screen caps of LR's System Info and macOS Activity Monitor at the point where LR is suspended by the OS. 

I also have a spindump of just before that point. 

However the problem also happens if LR has been left open for a long period of time.

Peculiarities of my setup:

Catalogue stored locally on iMac, but image files are stored on a NAS.
Brand new 2017 iMac, 4.2Ghz i7, 40Gb RAM.
2nd screen is an older 2011 iMac running in Target Display Mode connected via thunderbolt.

Very little video in the catalogue, mostly Canon CR2 RAW files from a range of camera models.

System Info about 10 secs after opening LR. (memory usage continues to climb without clicking on anything)

I have had new problems in 2015.12 related to running out of "application memory" during import of new photographs, and once it just got hung during import.   Also prior to executing the import I sometimes see a list of photographs that are in a neighboring folder rather than the folder I selected, and then it can't find thumbnails for those new photos.  I will try to take more specific notes about the situation it if happens again.

Not leaving LR open for long periods.
Making sure I import after each shoot, so as to not have too much on the card when importing (as this 'causes it to fail). So, yeah, management of the problem, and hoping the next patch release fixes the issue.

IS there a solution in sight? Looks like this is a universal problem and has nothing to do with amount of RAM, the lightroom CC simply gobbles all the RAM and renders iMac in a hung state.

I finally worked with Adobe and they helped me revert to LR 2015.10.1 several weeks ago, and it seems to have resolved so far. I did have one RAM-related crash since then, but I think it may have been due to Safari. Hope that helps!

Yes, but it is too soon to tell if this problem still exists. It *does* still use a significant amount of RAM but I haven't run out completely yet.
