Hi,when I upgraded LR CC Classic to Ver 7.1 on Sierra/Mac it started repeatedly crashing whenever I moved sliders in the Develop module. I then upgraded to High Sierra, and it was fractionally better but it still crashes frequently .I had no issues at all until the ver 7.1 upgrade.

Go to Lightroom>Preferences>Performance and uncheck Use Graphics Processor.
Does the crashing abate?

How many crashes do you see in a day? What types of operations induce the crashes.

Also, describe the crash: Does your Mac spontaneously reboot, does Lightroom lock up, does Lightroom close? The more information you can provide, the better.

Thank you. I get maybe 4 or 5 every hour . It happens when I am in the develop module moving sliders or zooming etc . No particular slider ,. The crashes are just instant quits and then I get a Mac crash report about LR . My Mac is Fine and I don’t have a problem with other software just Lightroom Ver 7.1

It sounds like you have either a corrupt preference file or a bad install then.  Crashing (I haven't seen one in 7.01 or 7.1 on Sierra since the update) is not common.

Attack the preferences file first:

A Preference File will survive a Lightroom uninstall/reinstall. Sometimes weird behavior is corrected/cured by resetting the preferences.
Reset Procedure:
1. Close Lightroom.
2. Hold down [Alt/Opt]+[Shift] while restarting Lightroom.
3. Overwrite the Preferences when prompted by the dialog.
4. Close Lightroom.
5. Restart Lightroom.
Does the behavior continue after resetting the preferences?

If it does, then do the following.

1. Uninstall Lightroom.
2. Restart your computer.
3. Reinstall Lightroom from a fresh download.
4. Restart your computer again.

The above two procedures take about 20 minutes with a reasonable download speed. Do you still see crashing after this?

Hi Sarah,

Have you shared the crash logs via the crash reporter dialog that comes up after a crash? If not, please do. Crash logs may help us in narrowing down the issue.
