Since upgrading my LR to LR CC 2015, whenever import images from an SD card, the images/thumbnails on the import dialogue are all jumbled up. In LR 5 the images on the import dialogue were shown in filename (or date) order - the order I shot the images in. But now in LR CC 2015 it's all jumbled up.I find this very annoying for a few reasons, most importantly I get worried that images I know I took don't seem to be there. Why would this have changed in LR CC? It wasn't broken in LR 5 and all previous version. I don't see any setting in Preferences for this dialogue. My details are below:Lightroom version: CC 2015.0.1 [ 1018573 ]License: Creative CloudOperating system: Mac OS 10Version: 10.10 [3]

Make sure you've expanded the Import window to show all the options by clicking the arrow in the lower-left corner:

Then chose your desired sort order with the dropdown in the center bottom:

This suggested solution does NOT work for me. My Import dialog always shows Sort: File Name. Then

 - If I renumber in sequence using the image # in the renaming template (the counter which the catalog keeps up-to-date), the numbers become all jumbled.
 - If I renumber using a new sequence number starting, the sequence numbers are in file name order which is also capture time order.

My normal numbering is to start at 1 in each new major time period, and let the catalog keep track of the next image number.

So it seems to be a quirk associated with the image number / catalog numbering system, which appeared sometime over the last year.

In previous versions of LR the sort option was sticky - LR remembered what you set that last time you were in the import dialog. Is there a setting to make the sort choice sticky so that each time I come to import it will at least remember my last choice?

Dear Adobe,

What is the reason for making a disorganized sort the default? Are you guys smoking a lot of crack?

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled LR is Importing Images in random order instead of by Capture Time.

For each import LR keeps grabbing random images from the card instead of grabbing them in capture time order. "IF" I notice I set the drop down to "capture time" and import.

On the very next import a random group of images is grabbed again. Once I set the drop down I expect it to stick as it has done for years. Why would Adobe set the import order to random, when is that ever useful? My system is Win 10 desktop and LR2015.4. Today shooting Nikon D3 RAW to card.

I too really HATE THIS FEATURE!! It's BEYOND annoying it USED to work...please fix it!

ALSO what really irks me is THEN when you're viewing the import, EVEN if you select "capture time" in the import preview it still imports OUT OF ORER and ALWAYS says "sort/added order" ...WTF? Why would we CARE about that?? Import it IN ORDER and make that default STAY please!! it used to work until you went into this crazy "let's add new bugs every 2 weeks" mode.

Thank you for letting me vent.  You can get back to fixing bugs please :)

I am sorry to see that the problem continues as of LR 2015.8.

An import of dozens of files (sorted by camera file name or by capture time in import dialog) still leads to files being renumbered according to "added order". Since multiple threads seem to be processed at once, capture time has no relationship to the filename or the capture time. So the sequence numbers assigned are essentially random compared to the originals. This remains unacceptable.

Some posts have suggested that it is a minor extra step to import without renumbering, and then remember to reset the sort order from totally useless "added order" to "capture time", and then use your naming template and resequencing on the imported images. Well it is not minor, because it is 1) prone to error with the additional step; 2) messes up the workflow which is a primary feature of Lightroom; and 3) one has to manually keep track of the catalog numbering (the import sequence number), which has led me to duplications and missing numbers.
