This conversation has been merged. Please reference the main conversation: Lightroom: Add text, etc. to photos the Lr style

I often use LR web to share images. Often the people, items, locations, etc. are not known by all. I would like to add text annotations to the surface of the image....without having to go outside of LR to do this. I am willing to create a separate folder/collection of jpegs if that were necessary. Can this be added? (Or am I missing a simple alternative?)

Check out the Lr Mogrify plug-in. It will do exactly what you are asking upon export.

This isn't ideal, but you could do this in the Slideshow module, then export the slides as JPEGs (hold down the Alt/Opt key and the Export PDF will change to Export JPEG), then import the JPEGs into Lightroom.

Here's a tutorial on how to add title, a caption or other photo-specific text to slides in the Slideshow module.

If it’s about sharing both images and information about them in shared Lightroom collections why not just check the ‘show metadata’ options? This is how i do it and it’s very easy, one simple action. Unfortunately this has to be done on Lightroom web, after publishing from Classic.

You may abuse the watermark on exporting - if it is only one image to be exported, this workaround might be ok. Unfortunately the Watermark feature does not access the metadata. That would be an easy thing for developers to add it to Lr Classic and an elegant way to tag each image individually. - But I am afraid, we will wait forever for nice and useful things like that, like e.g. Adobe customers are begging since 2004 for preview feature to Photoshops Radial/Zoom Blur filter, it's 2019 now and we all are still waiting for it. It is since 15 years not possible to exactly position radial/zoom blur :((( - Compare how easy zoom filter can be applied in Affinity Photo in real time and at full screen size preview (1x purchase 40 bucks instead of expensive subscription, and you get updates forever).

I, obviously, was not clear in what I was asking for. It is “free form” text. Not in or extracted from metadata. Something such as can easily done in iPad Photos app. See attached
