LR 7 upgrade catalog problems

Since I upgraded my slow but rock solid LR CC 6 to the new LR CC Classic (LR 7 or what ever you're calling this now), I've had nothing but problems.

I've narrowed it down to the fact that the updated catalog does not a lot of my photos that are in the folder structure I've got set up. these are folders that I've had for a long while and that LR 6 never had a problem with.

As an example I've got a folder called Photos and a sub folder called 2017 and subfolders under that for each of my shoots. Some of the folders under the main one (Photos) are greyed out in LR CC Classic and others are not. 2017 is one that is greyed out along with the individual folders under it.

I know the images are there as I can see them in Windows Explorer, ON Photo RAW 2018, Adobe Bridge, ACR, Photoshop, etc...

It's just the newest version of LR that has problems.

I've tried deleting the updated catalog and  recreating it to no avail. I'm at loss as to what to do. I can't use LR if I can't manage my Catalog/Folders in it.

I have over 50,000 images in my LR catalog stretching back to 2006 or so. so exporting them and reimporting them is not really an option.

Any help is welcome.

Is anyone out there that can respond to this issue?

I'd just downgrade to Lr6, use the backup catalog, and be good with it. That's what I'm doing. Lr7 (or whatever they're calling it) has way more new bugs than features.

I think I finally figured out what's going on with my catalog. It seems that for some reason LR put folders in read only mode during the upgrade. And failed to change it back to Read/Write afterwards.

ONce I changed all my folders back to read/write, everything seems to be working fine. For Now that is.
