LR 6.8 (Win) Randomly Recreates JPGs

I have a folder that contains about 250 JPG files. I went through those pictures in Browse and Loupe modes. I deleted maybe 20 of them and marked to the target catalog may 20 of them.

Afterwards, six consecutive picture files of that 230 have a creation date today, 15 minutes ago. The remaining 224 files have a creation date from 2015.

I didn't do any development edits or add any keywords, so there were no metadata updates.

Therefore, LR shouldn't have modified the creation times, as it did.

Where exactly are you looking at the Creation date, in what program?

Windows 8.1 cmd.exe using the command dir /tc. The same result is also with PowerShell or Windows Explorer.

That is showing you the creation and or Modified date of the FILE on the hard drive. Not the capture date/time the image was taken.
Why is that date important to you?
It mean basically nothing in LR or in Bridge. That is unless you sort by "File" creation date in a File Manager type program. Which LR isn't one of those. Bridge is one of those types of programs but when selecting Sort by Creation Date in Bridge that really means By Capture Time. There is no real Sort by "File on the hard drive" Creation date in Bridge. Or none that I can find.

If your images still have the same File Name as the camera gave them all you have to do is sort by File Name in a File Manager type program for them to be in order.

The creation date is important, because it indicates, that LR has unnecessarily messed with my image files. Instead of just reading the image, if it also creates a new file and places my image there, there is always a risk of physical or logical corruption.

So the problem is not sorting.

Do you have the option to Auto write changes to XMP  turned on in the Catalog Settings.
Both LR and ACR will write changes, any changes it sees, to a special part of a JPG file. That special part does not change the actual image data at all but it might change the creation or modified date as seen by the OS.

Yes, I have it on, but I didn't make any changes in those six pictures that got a new creation date.
